Overtime Entertainment plans to host a fashion event which would boosts the industries growth in P.E.I, says co-founder Daniel Ohaegbu.
Overtime Entertainment will be hosting Sip and Style this Saturday. It would feature fashion, makeup, dance and arts.
The purpose of the event is to showcase the fashion and beauty on the Island, Ohaegbu said.
“Basically it’s highlighting the fashion and trends in PEI. Local and international.
“We have a few local beauticians and boutiques that will be showcasing a runway.”
Charlottetown’s JEMS Boutique are one of the fashion businesses that will be present at the event, as well up and coming Nigerian designer Nkine Bissong and her brand Osowo, which would feature the fashion brought to P.E.I.

The group’s co-founders helped a friend host a similar fashion event at Ottawa. They believed it would be a great experience for Islanders as well.
It would promote visual and fashion artists on the island, said the other co-founder, Jonah Chininga.
“There are lots of talent designers and upcoming visual artists on the island, and a lot of people don’t know about them.
“We want people to know about them so we can support our own, as Islanders, and be able to give them a platform.”
The event will also help build a network for fashionistas on the Island, Chininga said.
“We are just bridging the gap in connecting designers and stylists here on P.E.I. We are also bridging that gap between the [fashion] businesses and consumers.”
Preparing for the event helped them realize many Islander’s care about fashion.
“From this event, we’ve figured out there is a huge community for this [fashion]. [Similar events] It’s been done within certain demographics here, but not as a collaboration.”
The group wants to do more, Ohaegbu said.
“This event is basically serving a larger purpose in terms of bringing industries together through collaboration.
“The vision for this is definitely bigger than what has been done before.”
The event is hosted at the new DownStreet Dance Studio location, at 110 Grafton street from 6 to 8 p.m.
Tickets for the event cost $30, which will be include a meal.
